Christmas Fayre and Confirmation Service 2016

What a busy time we had last weekend with our Christmas Fayre and Confirmation Service.

We held our annual Christmas Fayre on Saturday 26th November to raise money for our Missions. We had a great time dressing up as our favourite nursery rhyme characters and raised £413 to be shared between our nominated charities ASCEND, Chairs Tiwala, Watford & Three Rivers Refugee Partnership and Toilet Twinning.

Can you identify all the nursery rhyme characters?

Then the following day, on Sunday 27th November, we were joined by Bishop Michael, the Bishop of Hertford, for our Confirmation Service. Ten members of our congregation were confirmed at a fantastic service where the candidates got involved in leading our prayers (including some prayers in Spanish).

Congratulations to Joshua, Elsa, Estaban, Joe, Hannah, Pascaline, Immi, Kerry, Heidi and José on their Confirmation.

Service of Admission to Holy Communion – 17th July 2016

We had a wonderful service on Sunday. Five of our children were admitted to Holy Communion for the first time in All Saints’ history. The children were fantastic leading our readings and prayers. In the sermon they asked each other questions and showed how much they have learnt about Jesus and the church.
After the service, there was some time to enjoy the summer weather and play some outdoor games.
And finally our bring and share lunch, with all the usual gorgeous food.
We are really blessed to have such fantastic children in our congregation.

Civic Service on Sunday 17th April

Civic Service

Sunday 17th April at 2pm

This year Three Rivers District Council civic service is to be held here at All Saints’ Church. This annual service brings together the Councillors, Mayors and Chairs from all over Hertfordshire.

The Chair of Three Rivers District Council, Eric Bishop, has asked that the service this year should be a celebration of the rich diversity in our district and it will include a huge variety of people from many different cultures and faiths. There will be a song of atonement from a Jewish representative, a Sikh will talk to us about his faith, a hymn will be sung by the Romanian choir (the church that uses our building), the South Oxhey Children’s Choir will sing and there may also be contributions from a member of the Krishna Temple and a mosque. It will be a great joy to worship together with people from so many different backgrounds.

You are invited to join us at this service – please come along and share in the rich diversity we have in our local communities.

Maundy Thursday – Holy Communion

Thursday 24th March – 7.30pm

Maundy Thursday is one of the most holy days of the Christian year. It is when we remember Christ’s promise to us, it is the moment when Jesus gave us the Eucharist as our main act of worship and it is the service when he washed the feet of his disciples and set us the example of how to live as Christians.

Good Friday Services

Friday 25th March – 11am (United Service in South Oxhey Precinct)

Friday 25th March – 2.30pm (Service at All Saints’ Church)

Please join us as we remember the sacrifice that Jesus made for us as he suffered on the cross to save our sins. Good Friday is also one of the holiest days in our calendar and it is important that as Christians we all observe it seriously.

There is no Easter without Maundy Thursday or Good Friday.

Ash Wednesday and Lent 2016

Ash Wednesday Service

Wednesday 10th February 2016 at 7:30pmAsh cross(1)

Lent is a very important time in the Christian calendar as we journey towards the Cross and Resurrection. It is also a time of penitence and our Lenten journey begins on 10th February at the Ash Wednesday Service of Holy Communion.

It is important that we observe Lent and the Ash Wednesday service is the best way to start.  It is a beautiful service – please make every effort to be there.

Lent Course

Lent is a time of study, prayer and reflection. If you would like to join in some form of study and discussion during Lent then join us for one of our Lent Groups.

This year, the course will be based on the musical movie ‘Les Miserables’ and our courses will meet weekly between Ash Wednesday and Palm Sunday. We are joining together with all the other churches in South Oxhey and there are a variety of daytime and evening courses as you prefer. A sign up list with the available times will be in our foyer after our Sunday morning service.

Everyone is welcome. We all need to learn more about our faith and to grow together in Christ – please consider joining us for this Lent course.
