Service of Admission to Holy Communion – 17th July 2016

We had a wonderful service on Sunday. Five of our children were admitted to Holy Communion for the first time in All Saints’ history. The children were fantastic leading our readings and prayers. In the sermon they asked each other questions and showed how much they have learnt about Jesus and the church.
After the service, there was some time to enjoy the summer weather and play some outdoor games.
And finally our bring and share lunch, with all the usual gorgeous food.
We are really blessed to have such fantastic children in our congregation.

Missions for 2016

We’re a bit late announcing our Missions for this year, but they have now been agreed and we have already started raising funds at our Table Top Sales and other events. All money raised during 2016 will be split equally between our four nominated Missions: Toilet Twining, Charis Tiwala, Watford and Three Rivers Refugee Partnership and ASCEND.

International Mission: Toilet Twining

Here’s the thing… 2.4 billion people don’t have somewhere safe, clean and hygienic to go to the loo. That’s more than a third of the people on the planet. Now, you can get excited about life-changing long-drops!

By twinning your toilet, you help those in desperate poverty to have access to a proper latrine, clean water and the information they need to be healthy.

How does it work? For just £60, you can twin your loo with a latrine halfway around the world, in a country of your choosing. For £240, you can twin with a school block. Your smallest room becomes the proud owner of a personalised certificate, complete with a colour photo of its twin and GPS coordinates so you can look up your twin on Google Maps.

Local Mission: Charis Tiwala

Charis Tiwala is a Christian charity offering support and assistance to anyone in Hertfordshire who is affected by human trafficking or sexual exploitation within the sex industry. They exist to give people in the sex industry a choice again; a choice to exit if they wish, and a choice to rebuild a new life as they would choose to live it.

Their vision is to see a society where everyone is valued, treated with dignity and able to live a fulfilling life, without the danger of being trafficked or sexually exploited.

Local Mission: Watford and Three Rivers Refugee Partnership

The Watford and Three Rivers Refugee Partnership (WTRRP) offers practical and emotional support in West Hertfordshire to asylum-seekers refugees and those with no recourse to public funds (NRPF), many of whom are destitute and homeless. Our mission is to help provide access to the advice and services needed, often providing long-term support until statutory services are in place.

Home Mission: ASCEND

ASCEND is our very own Mission working right in the heart of our community. They’re all about moving people forward, challenging their perceived barriers to education and training; providing people with more choice and control over their lives. Thanks to ASCEND, many local people now have the confidence, self-esteem and skills to find a route to employment, some for the first time in their lives. ASCEND also works with young people aged 16 to 25 and has set up the Dig Deep Allotment Project with Farming for All CIC and Step Up with Herts Mind Network.
