Civic Service on Sunday 17th April
Civic Service
Sunday 17th April at 2pm
This year Three Rivers District Council civic service is to be held here at All Saints’ Church. This annual service brings together the Councillors, Mayors and Chairs from all over Hertfordshire.
The Chair of Three Rivers District Council, Eric Bishop, has asked that the service this year should be a celebration of the rich diversity in our district and it will include a huge variety of people from many different cultures and faiths. There will be a song of atonement from a Jewish representative, a Sikh will talk to us about his faith, a hymn will be sung by the Romanian choir (the church that uses our building), the South Oxhey Children’s Choir will sing and there may also be contributions from a member of the Krishna Temple and a mosque. It will be a great joy to worship together with people from so many different backgrounds.
You are invited to join us at this service – please come along and share in the rich diversity we have in our local communities.

Holy Week and Easter 2016
Holy Week and Easter 2016
Palm Sunday – Holy Communion
Sunday 20th March – 10.00am
Our traditional Palm Sunday Service where we celebrate Christ’s entry into Jerusalem before starting his final week of ministry. Service starts with a palm cross parade and includes a dramatic reading of the Passion.
Maundy Thursday – Holy Communion
Thursday 24th March – 7.30pm
Maundy Thursday is one of the most holy days of the Christian year. It is when we remember Christ’s promise to us, it is the moment when Jesus gave us the Eucharist as our main act of worship and it is the service when he washed the feet of his disciples and set us the example of how to live as Christians.
Good Friday Services
Friday 25th March – 11am (United Service in South Oxhey Precinct)
Friday 25th March – 2.30pm (Service at All Saints’ Church)

Please join us as we remember the sacrifice that Jesus made for us as he suffered on the cross to save our sins. Good Friday is also one of the holiest days in our calendar and it is important that as Christians we all observe it seriously.
.
There is no Easter without Maundy Thursday or Good Friday.
Easter Day – Holy Communion
Sunday 27th March – 10.00am
Come and join the celebration of Jesus’ resurrection . The service will start outside – beside Oxhey Chapel – with the lighting of the Pascal Candle from a fire. The lit candle will then be carried into the church symbolising the light of Christ coming into the world.
This will be an All Age service.
Our Easter Service will be followed by:
Decorated Egg Competition: Once again we will be holding a decorated egg competition so get those creative juices flowing. Decorate a hard-boiled egg and bring it along on Easter Day and you could win an Easter egg.
Easter Scavanger Hunt: After the service, the children can let off some energy and join the hunt for some sweet treats.
Easter Monday Pilgrimage to St. Albans Abbey
Walk – Depart All Saints’ at 9am
Picnic – Meet in the Abbey Gardens from 1pm
Service – St Albans Abbey at 3pm (parade into Abbey from 2pm)
Each year a group of us have joined in the Easter Monday Pilgrimage to St. Albans →. We have always had a wonderful time! We go into the Abbey and join over a thousand other people for a tremendous service. Come along and share in the joy of the risen Lord!
Some of us will walk to the Abbey (an 11 mile walk). We are planning to leave All Saints’ at 9am, getting to St Albans for around 1pm. If the full 11 miles is too much, you can meet us at Bricket Wood Station (parking available) at around 11:30 for the final 4 miles or just meet us outside the Abbey for a picnic before the service (picnic may be moved inside the Abbey depending on the weather).
